Bridges and Paths (Paris)
Scenes from Paris
- Mellow Paris street? Nope! Outlet mall in the suburbs, Val d'Europe
- Fg Saint-Denis., 10th District, Paris. The African Quarter. A Sunday afternoon football match meant immigrants packed into tiny bars, watching on TVs. Often spilling out onto the sidewalk.
- Promenade Plante, Paris- 4.5km pedestrian walkway on abandoned raised railway extending from Bastille (they're doing this in New York, too; not sure about the plants)
- Vaiduc des Arts. Below the northern part of Promenade Plante are a series of designer craftsman shops. Also notice the curb-separated bike lane and bus lane.
- Garbage receptacles in Paris! Plus, fines for littering and leaving dog poop! That means the streets are clean now. I only saw one person step in a fresh pile of poo. She had sandals on. Honestly, though, it used to be much, much worse.
- Paris. How many of these uses were intended by designers? Bikes, stickers, scooters, etc.
- If all pedestrian bridges looked like this... (Gare de l'Est, Paris)
- .. or like this, maybe people would use them! (Canal Saint Martin, Paris)
- Platform shelters at Gare de l'Est, Paris
- Paris street sign. If you don't supply community bulletin boards, this is what happens. Apparently people have more respect for buildings. Stickering on signs was common.
- Learning to use a bike lane. A girl on a bike with training wheels, her mom on her right keeping her steady, sibling on her left. Headed down a bike lane between parked cars and sidewalk at Canal Saint-Martin, Paris.
